湖北省部分重点中学2015届高三第二次联考英语科参考答案

完成句子

参考作文:

It is needless to say that our greatest weakness lies in giving up. On the contrary, the most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

There is a vivid example on me. Never will I forget the great difficulty that I had in learning maths. There was a time when I found it really hard to be skilled in maths. Having failed in maths tests many times, I was on the edge of giving up. Hardly could I stand the bad mood which maths brought to me. Only after I realized that I hadn’t tried hard enough did I attach significance to perseverance. Everyone has the experience of failure, the bitterness of which is simply beyond expression. But the general awareness of the importance of rising every time we fall might be the first step on the way to success. I knew I was on the point of starting over and taking some measures to improve my maths. The fact that I did make progress brought to me the value of insisting on. There is no denying that it was rising when I fell that made a difference.

Taking what has been mentioned above into account, we may arrive at the conclusion that the greatest glory in living is not in never falling ,but in rising every time we fall.

听力材料:

(Text 1)

W: Oh look, aren’t they sweet? Can you see those two playing with a ball?

M: I wouldn’t call lions sweet and I’m glad I’m not that ball.

(Text 2)

M: That’s an interesting ring. Where did you get it?

W: Oh, I got this with money from my grandmother. It’s a real diamond.

(Text 3)

W: Was I supposed to type this report this week?

M: No, I assigned it to Mary. Why don’t you type these documents for the meeting next week?

(Text 4)

W: Pass me the flour, please.

M: Which tin is it in?

W: The one at the end of the shelf. It’s slightly smaller than the others.

M: Oh, right.

(Text 5)

M: Are you buying that book on ships? I didn’t know you were interested in ships.

W: I’m not. I’ve just been looking at the pictures. No, this is the one I’m buying —— on modern aircraft.

M: I thought you hated flying.

W: I do, but I love watching planes.

(Text 6)

W: We’re having a lovely time, Dad.

M: I’m sure there’s a lot to do!

W: There is! We’ve been for a walk in Central Park. It’s so big! Everything here is big. And we’ve climbed the Empire State Building. The view was fantastic. We haven’t been to Greenwich Village yet, and we haven’t been to Chinatown, either. We’re going to do that tomorrow.

M: Have you seen the Statue of Liberty yet?

W: Oh, yes, we have. We’ve just had a helicopter ride out of the city, and we flew really close to it.

M: What about a show? Have you seen a show on Broadway yet?

W: No, we haven’t. We’re going to see one on our last night here, but we haven’t decided what to see yet.

(Text 7)

W: Karl, have you got the list of people we’re inviting to the party?

M: Well, it’s the usual crowd plus the couple next door.

W: Oh no, not them, they are so dull.

M: Look, Sally, I know. But they’ll guess we’re having a party because of the noise and in any case we asked them last time.

W: Oh, all right. What about food and drink then?

M: Well, it’s the usual arrangement. We’ll provide the food and everyone will bring along something to drink.

W: Sounds good to me. What’re we eating?

M: I don’t know. I’ve been so busy. I haven’t done anything about it yet.

W: How about salads —— you know different sorts of salads?

M: We did that last time, I think we should do something different this time.

W: What about the chicken thing we had when we were on holiday?

M: You mean that chicken and rice with fruit and vegetables?

W: Yeah, I can’t remember what it was called. It was really nice!

(Text 8)

W: Adam, this is it. This is your room. You’ve got a desk, a bed, and a TV. If you need anything else, please let me know.

M: Thank you. This is really very good.

W: Come here. I’ll show you around the house. The study is downstairs. You can use the computer there.

M: Oh, I’ve got my laptop. I just need to get it connected.

W: I’ll ask my husband to help you. He and Mary, my daughter, are coming home after six. Grandpa and grandma went out for a walk. They will be back at four o’clock.

M: Oh, I’m really looking forward to seeing them.

W: They will be very happy to see you too. Now let’s talk about the meal. We will have dinner at 6:30. Breakfast starts at 7:30. Do you want me to prepare a lunch pack for you or do you prefer to eat at school?

M: I’ll eat at school.

(Text 9)

W: How do you usually get to work?

M: I usually ride my bike. How about you?

W: I feel that I can see more when I ride a bike, but I often drive a car. Do you have a car?

M: No. I used to have one. Once I read an article about car and air pollution, so I decided to sell it. Now I’m using my bicycle to get around and I find that I don’t really need a car.

W: Maybe I should sell my car too.

M: You could try. It would save you a lot of money on gas, insurance and repairs. And you would get lots of exercise, too!

W: You’re right. I really need to lose a few pounds. Having a car has made me lazy. I never end up walking anywhere!

M: Let’s go to a car dealership. I’ll help you try to sell your car for a good price.

W: Let’s go!

(Text 10)

W: Well done! I enjoyed your story. Now I’d like to share with you a strange experience I had a month ago. It might sound funny, but it is true. After a day’s hard work I went to bed earlier than usual. It was about two o’clock in the morning, and …and suddenly I woke up. I heard a noise. I got out of bed and went slowly downstairs. There was a light in the living room. I listened very carefully. I could hear two men speaking quietly. I believe two burglars had broken into my house and I was really frightened, so I went back upstairs, and immediately phoned the police from my bedroom. The police arrived quickly. They opened the front door with a special key and went into the living room. You can imagine how embarrassed I was when they came upstairs and told me they had turned the television off for me and everything was all right.
