There is such a thing as winning by too much. A final score of 161-2 recently earned one winning coach of a Californian high school girls’ basketball team a two-game suspension(停赛) for unsportsmanlike behavior.

“The game just got away from me. I didn’t expect them to be that bad. I’m not trying to embarrass anybody,” Arroy Valley Coach Michael Anderson told the San Bernardino Sun about the blowout against Bloomington. In the second half, he played substitutes instead of starters, who played when the game began.

Hmm. Calling your competitor “bad” probably isn’t helping the cause.

Coaches from other local high schools have spoken against Anderson’s tactics(战略)as well. Throughout the entire first half of the game, Anderson used a full-court press, a method of playing basketball in which one team puts pressure on the other team in all parts of the court, and eventually his team won by 103 points. “Let them score,” Cajon Coach Mark Lehman, who led his team to victory too, said “I don’t think anyone would’ve had a problem if it was 161-50. But 161-2? Why not put up defense?”

Bloomington dealt with the loss as well as they could.

“People shouldn’t feel sorry for my team,” Coach Dale Chung said after the game. “They should feel sorry for his team, which isn’t learning the game the right way.”

He said he was proud of his team, because the game would hardly affect them. However, he added, “But it should affect them a little.”

The suspension doesn’t seem to have changed the team’s tactics much. After the 159-point win, Arroyo played against Indian Springs and won by 61 points.

“They responded as they usually do,” Arroyo’s assistant coach Nick Anderson, 19, told the San Bernardino Sun of the 80-19 win. He was filling in for his dad, who was suspended.

He said, “It’s nothing different. We just have a different coach. We’re still going to run our game plan, like we always do.”

San Francisco has nearly 6,500 people, according to recent city figures, with 4,300 of them living on the street. Among the many problems the homeless face is little or no access to showers. But Doniece Sandoval has made it her mission to change that.

“Homelessness is something you can’t really miss in San Francisco,” the 51-year-old former marketing manager told ABC News.

She started Lava Mae, a sort of showers on wheels, a new project that aims to turn decommission（退役的）city buses into shower stations for the homeless.

“One day I passed a woman on the street an she was very dirty and crying, and I heard her say that she would never be clean. I was wondering what opportunities she had to actually get clean,” Sandoval said. “That’s when I realize that this shouldn’t be happening.

Sandoval was inspired to start Lava Mae. The project has already been welcomed with open arms in the city.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency has donate one bus for the cause and is willing to donate three more in the future if the project succeeds. Sandoval hopes the first bus will be able to hit the road in March.

The Public Utilities Commission has also agreed to let the buses plug into fire hydrants(消防栓)around the city if Lava Mae pays for the water.
