Usages of relative adverbs

When=in/on /at /during which; Where=in /at /on which;

Why=for which.

1.The house where(in which)we live is not big.

4.1988 is the year when (in which )I was born.

5. Do you know the reason why(for which)he didn’t come ?

1.当表时间的先行词 在从句中作主语或宾语时 ，不能用when .

e. g. I’ll never forget the days which /that I spent with your family. His aunt is going to Beijing in October, which is the best season there.

It is the first time that …在此 句型 中,that是习惯用法,不能 用when 代替。

It is the first time that I have been to the Great Wall .

限制性定语从句中关系副词when 可省去,有时也可用that 代替.She is always busy doing something from the time she gets up in the morning till the time she goes to bed .

Where 表地点,只能作 地点状语,跟在表地点的名词后.

引导词 where 可用that替换, 可省略.
