　　Both my parents were musical. Neither of them played a musical instrument, but they both sang, and there was lots of music at home. There was an old piano at school and I couldn't keep my hands off it! Finally an old teacher at the school recognized that I wanted to learn, and she gave me some lessons.

　　When I was nine, I played in the end-of-term concert at school. At the age of thirteen, my music teacher said to me, “There is nothing more that I can teach you. First, you have to prepare a programme of music. Second, you must play it better than anyone else. Third, you must recognize that there are many good pianists in the world. If you can do all these things, you can succeed.” So I entered the competition and won. I think the next part of my life will be very busy.
