Raghu Makwana lost his legs，but his kindness is ever-present．One of his many kindness efforts is the Tulsi project. Whenever he learns of a family with some conflicts or even violent abuse, Raghu courageously walks in to spread good cheer and gifts them a Tulsi plant. Most of these are complete strangers．Sometimes he’ll recite a prayer，sometimes he’ll talk about wise saints(圣人)，sometimes he’ll share stories. Hearing hopeful messages from a young man without legs is quite transformative! When he leaves the holy Tulsi plant, people accept it as a blessing；as they care for the plant, and are reminded of its presence every day，they sometimes grow in empathy(移情作用)．To date，he has given out more than 500 of these plants, one at a time.

Let alone folks in the slums(贫民窟), Raghu even attracts famous people. Once，a philanthropist(慈善家)gave a talk to the slum kids and described the experience of flying in a plane．A few weeks later，it so turned out that Spice Jet Airlines donated an entire plane for that whole group of slum children and young adults, including Raghu, to “fly in the air’．Miss India herself received them at the airport, and personally chatted with Raghu about life in the slums, as they were all gifted a royal tour of a big city. Even more recently, when Dr．APJ Abdul Kalam，the former president of India，was giving a talk，he was deeply inspired by Rashu.

Do you have memories of being kidnapped (绑架) by aliens (外星人) and taken away rapidly in a spaceship? You wouldn’t be alone. Several thousand people worldwide reported to have had such experiences, researchers say. But in a new study, a psychology expert at London’s Goldsmiths College says these experiences are proof of the weakness of the human memory, rather than evidence of life in outer space.

“Maybe what we’re dealing with here is false memories, and not that people are actually being kidnapped and taken aboard spaceships,” says Professor Chris French, who surveyed 19 so-called victims.

Several of the victims reported being taken away from their beds or cars by alien creatures around four feet high, with long and lean arms and legs and oversized heads, French said. Some men said they were forced to take painful medical examinations by the aliens.

Many of the alien experiences could be explained by sleep paralysis, a condition in which a person is awake and aware of the surroundings but is unable to move. Sleep paralysis often leads to hallucinations —the experience of seeing or feeling something that is not really there and 40 percent of people experience the state at least once in their lives, French said. A rich imagination was also at play. Several of the alien victims were more likely to fantasize and reported to have seen ghosts (幽灵) and have unnatural abilities.

“People have very rich fantasy lives,” said French, who is due to present his findings at a public seminar at London’s Science Museum on Wednesday. “So much that they often mix up what’s happening in their heads with what is going on in the real world.”

Happiness is a journey

We always convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, than another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.

We always tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse (配偶) gets his or her act together. When we get a nice car, and are able to go on a nice vacation when we retire. The truth is, there's no better time than right now. If not now, when? Our life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to ourselves and decide to be happy anyway.

One of my favorite quotes comes from Alfred Souza. He said, "for a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin a real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, som
